Garden Tools FAQs

Can you make homemade fertilizer?

Yes! The ingredients for homemade fertilizer include, 1 can of beer, 1 cup of Epsom salts, 1 cup of Ammonia, and 2 cups of water. Mix all ingredients and put in your lawn sprayer, then just spray you lawn.

Are earthworms good or bad for gardens?

Earthworms are great for your soil and plants. The more earthworms in your garden, the healthier the soil is. Earthworms till the soil by tunneling through it, which allows the air moisture to pass easily through the soil. Tunnels retain water and also hold air to help bacteria break down the matter within the soil. Earthworms also produce an excrement called “castings” or “vermicompost,” which is a great conditioning treatment for the soil. It helps soils moisture retention, aids in plant growth and fights against diseases and unwanted bugs.

Is gardening beneficial to health?

Yes! I recent study showed that a 40-year-old woman burned 30 percent more calories (392) from gardening for an hour than in an aerobics class for an hour. Aside from calorie burning, gardening is a stress relief and, if you are planting a fruit, herb or vegetable garden, you will also enjoy the health benefits of all natural, better tasting vegetables, seasonings, and fruits.
